Since 2019, the Hamburg Historical Museums Foundation has been awarding the “Georg Koppmann Prize for Hamburg City Photography” together with the Authority for Urban Development and Housing. Every year, an artistic-documentary photo project is awarded that deals with the change in the cityscape and the associated social changes in Hamburg. The resulting photo series show different views of the urban space and open up a visual examination of the current development of the city. The exhibition, which is being shown as part of this year’s Hamburg Architecture Summer, will feature works from the first five award-winning projects from 2019 to 2023, including photographs by Axel Beyer (“Temporary Insights”, 2019), Robin Hinsch (” The Mechanism”, 2020), Sabine Bungert/Stefan Dolfen (“The Place is the Third Teacher”, 2021), Markus Dorfmüller (“Colonial Hamburg”, 2022), Alexandra Polina (“Steindamm Atlas”, 2023) and Irina Ruppert (“The Steal”, 2023).
