The museum is largely barrier-free. In particular wheelchair users can visit most exhibition halls by elevator. Please consult our attendants.

Wheelchairs are available to disabled visitors free of charge, and barrier-free lifts lead to all exhibition rooms.

The museum is only partially barrier-free.

The low-barrier accessibility of our house is important to us, but unfortunately not all areas are accessible due to reasons of monument protection.

Access is not step-free. There is no toilet designed for people with disabilities.

For wheelchair users, the Heine Haus is only accessible to a limited extent. Toilets are located in the basement and can therefore only be reached via stairs. Please call (040) 428 135-3582 in advance if you are planning a visit.

There are parking spaces in front of the museum, there is no separate disabled parking space. The entrance is not step-free.

Not only the imposing glass-roofed inner courtyard with its fine details makes the Museum of Hamburg History a popular place for events. From corporate events to weddings, the premises of the traditional house offer a stylish and unusual ambience.

Our museum shop “Zampelbüdel” was named after the linen bags used by the dock workers to transport their personal belongings for daily use. Here you can buy souvenirs such as books and postcards, key rings, ship models, maritime clothing, coffee and tea varieties and many other port-related souvenirs. The opening hours are the same as for the German Port Museum.

On the ground floor of the Jenisch Haus, and right next to the ticket office, there is a bookshop. This is where you can buy catalogues, exhibition publications, posters and postcards.
