The historic hall of columns in the entrance area of the Altonaer Museum have become a redesigned admission-free “living room of the museum” and a special place for actors from the district. As an attractive welcome and recreation area for lounging, playing and reading, the hall presents thematically exemplary highlights from the museum’s diverse cultural-historical collection and also offers an area for smaller exhibitions, which are primarily created by and with communities, clubs and associations from Altona. In addition to admission-free visits, the hall of columns is also available for events outside of the museum’s opening hours. The redesign of the hall has been carried out by the office Holzer Kobler Architekturen Zurich/Berlin and was made possible by funds of the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media.
