World Press Photo 2024

18.09. – 14.10.2024

In 2024, the Altonaer Museum will once again host the presentation of the World Press Photo Award, with which the World Press Photo Foundation has honored the best international press photographs of the previous year every year since 1955. The themes of the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind range from the documentation of political conflicts and armed conflicts to the photographic depiction of the challenges and problems of the climate crisis and reportages of everyday life in different societies. The award-winning photographs are shown in a traveling exhibition that has now visited more than 100 cities in almost 50 countries and has been seen by over a million visitors around the world. The magazines GEO and STERN have been presenting the exhibition in Hamburg for over 25 years – this year, the award-winning images can be seen for the third time at the Altonaer Museum.
