Every year since 1955, the World Press Photo Foundation has honored the best international press photographs of the previous year with the World Press Photo Award. The themes of the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind range from the documentation of political disputes and armed conflicts to the photographic depiction of the challenges of the climate crisis and reportages of everyday life in different societies. The award-winning photographs from all regions of the world are shown every year in a traveling exhibition that now visits more than 100 cities in almost 50 countries and is seen by over a million visitors around the world. GEO and stern magazine have been presenting the exhibition in Hamburg for over 25 years.
