Wood makes a move A strong stance for the climate

14.05. – 08.07.2025

Exhibition on the northern German competition for young woodworkers

The aim of the ‘Holz bewegt’ competition for young talent in northern Germany is to promote traditional wood craftsmanship in northern Germany and to combine this with modern design and sustainability approaches.

The competition, now in its ninth year, and the accompanying exhibition at the Museum der Arbeit, which sees itself as a platform for wood art and design, enable designers and wood craftspeople to present their craftsmanship and innovative wood products to a wide audience. The current competition theme ‘A clear edge for the climate’ called on participants in the competition to minimise their environmental impact by using certified or recycled wood and energy-efficient manufacturing processes. In addition to innovation and design, the exhibits in the exhibition focus on the criteria of durability, reparability and recyclability of the resulting furniture and interior items.

As part of the exhibition, the ‘Days of Wood’ will take place on 13 and 14 June 2025, during which visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the history and future of wood craftsmanship, learn practical skills and exchange creative ideas in workshops, demonstrations and informative events.
